How this was built

Transaction universe. Same de-duplicated set the CC Transactions report uses: every orsa_cc_alerts row (card alert emails), plus every qb_cc_charges row (QuickBooks Online) that has no ORSA counterpart within ±2 days at the same absolute amount. 3,173 transactions total — 406 from ORSA, 2,767 QuickBooks-only.
Net. QuickBooks refund rows are subtracted; charge rows are added. 200 refunds are netted out. The one AUTOMATIC PAYMENT – THANK YOU row (−$8,841.35) is a payment to the card, not a purchase, and is excluded.
Parent roll-up. Every store number, city suffix and bank descriptor variant maps to one parent — e.g. THE HOME DEPOT #2721 YPSILANTI, THE HOME DEPOT #2724 BRIGHTON and HOMEDEPOT.COM all become Home Depot; all Ace/Great Lakes Ace/Barnes/Milan/Jungas/Lakeland Ace locations become Ace Hardware.
Store-location drill-down. The location is read out of the raw bank descriptor in qb_cc_charges.description, which is fixed-width — MERCHANT · CITY · STATE · REF#. That resolves 378 distinct store locations across 44 multi-location vendors. Card-alert rows with no QuickBooks match inherit the location of the closest-matching descriptor already on file. 97 transactions ($8,382.49) have no location — those are QuickBooks rows where someone typed a memo (“JJ”, “Total”) into the description instead of the bank's descriptor; they show as location not on the charge inside the vendor's drill-down.
Disposals & Rentals is a manual group. Seven vendors — Monroes Rubbish Removal, Lakeshore Recycling, Recycle Drop-Off / Recovery Yard, San Marino Excavating, Chets Rent All, U-Haul and Bin There Dump That — are pulled out of whatever GL account QuickBooks booked them to and reported here as Disposals & Rentals (60 charges, $4,672.87). Everything else keeps its QuickBooks category.
All other categories are QuickBooks', not mine. Materials = GL account COGS:2003. Cost of Materials; Gas/Fuel = COGS:2006. Vehicle Gas & Fuel + Vehicles:Gas & Fuel; Marketing = 6000. SALES & MARKETING:*. A few vendors show up under more than one GL account, which is why a name can appear twice in "All spend". 289 transactions (mostly Aug 2026, after the QuickBooks sync's last date of Jul 31, 2026) carry no GL account and were placed in that vendor's own most-frequent category.
